Nabihah Iqbal Joins The Ground Control Touring Artist Roster

Ground Control Touring is excited to welcome Nabihah Iqbal into our family of performing artists.

Nabihah wears many hats. As a lecturer and long-time resident DJ on NTS Radio, Nabihah highlights some of the most rare and underrepresented voices in music. Taking an ethnomusicological approach, Nabihah has brought the wonderful, obscure music of places like Pakistan, Cuba and South Africa to a global audience. Beginning in June 2018, she brings this same approach to the BBC with her new Saturday evening show.

Nabihah has been releasing her own music for several years, but in December 2017, Ninja Tune released Nabihah’s first record under her real name. That album, Weighing of the Heart, has garnered critical acclaim from publications such as Pitchfork and FACT Mag. Nabihah has toured her live performance since the release with scheduled dates at this year’s Hidden Door Festival, Bluedot Festival and Vogelball.

Nabihah is also a prominent club DJ outside the radio studio. In 2017 and 2018, she performed in Egypt, Australia, China and Korea, to name a few. You can catch her on the decks at Field Day Festival and Latitude Festival this summer.
