Martin Dupont

A mysterious French name, lyrics in English, heady electronic music…

Don’t be too quick to judge this unclassifiable band from Marseille, Martin Dupont has inspired some of the luminaries of the contemporary music scene from Trip Hop to electro, such as Tricky, MadLib, Mick Wills, Marcel Dettman and Theophilus London, protegé of Kanye West, to name but a few.
Their brief career from 1981 to 1987 is immortalised in three cult albums and their live appearances opening for legendary groups such as The Lotus Eaters, The Lounge Lizards and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
At the end of the 80s, Alain Seghir, the band leader, suspended the group’s activities in order to focus on his brilliant career as a surgeon.
Martin Dupont remained under the radar for over thirty years, but since achieving unexpected success in the US, championed by the New York label Minimal Wave, the band is now making a comeback – bigger and better than ever.
Playing alongside their friends the brilliant members of Girls Like You and Olli from the live music scene, they are returning to the very stage that hosted their first gigs, bolstered by their ever-increasing fan base. They will then embark on a major international tour.
