Welcoming Cayetana To Ground Control Touring

Posted 02/23/2017

Ground Control Touring is excited to announce that Philly indie rock three-piece Cayetana has joined our roster of touring artists.

Comprised of Augusta Koch, Allegra Anka and Kelly Olsen, Cayetana is a band of best friends that make visceral, DIY punk tunes that explore the delicate interplay of mental illness and wellness.

Their debut LP “Nervous Like Me” was released in 2014 on Tiny Engines. Showcasing their unique blend of folk, indie and punk elements, this album gained the band critical acclaim from the likes of Consequence of Sound, Alternative Press and NPR. The success of this record propelled them onto tours with artists ranging from Scranton, PA pop-punk icons The Menzingers to fellow GCT artist Waxahatchee.

Cayetana’s second album “New Kind of Normal” is being released on May 5th via Plum Records, a label the band started itself. Koch says of Plum, “We believe in ourselves so much more than anyone else is going to believe in us, so why not put all of our energy into releasing the record?” For their second record, Cayetana refused to compromise and hope to help other artists to do the same in the future. “We want to empower people and show them that they don’t have to wait for something to happen. They can do it themselves.”

In a live setting, the band is invigorating. Koch’s voice passionately cracks and growls alongside Anka’s bass lines, all of which is held together by the rhythm Olsen provides. Whether they’re playing in a sweaty Philly basement or on stage in front of hundreds of people, this is a group that makes you pay attention.

Cayetana is currently wrapping up a nationwide tour with Lemuria. Keep an eye on their artist page for more news and tour dates!
