Record Store Day 2011

Record Store Day 2011

Posted 04/15/2011

Ground Control Touring artists will be participating in this year’s Record Store Day, which takes place on April 16th.

Sonic Youth will be re-issuing 6,000 copies of their Whores Moaning EP, which was originally exclusively released in Australia in 1993 to coincide with tour dates in Australia and New Zealand. The album features an original drawing on the back cover by Kurt Cobain.

Dom will be releasing 1,000 3-sided 10” singles, which will be exclusively available at participating Record Store Day stores. To celebrate this release, the band will be performing a set at Boston’s Newbury Comics at 1pm.

Wavves and Trash Talk are releasing a split 7” (limited to 500 copies).

Supporting their concert on April 17th at The Earl, British Sea Power will be performing an intimate in-store set at Criminal Records in Atlanta, Georgia. They will also be releasing a UK-only 7” entitled “Living Is So Easy.” Criminal Records will be the only U.S. store to have it, so stop by if you can!

Widowspeak will be playing an in-store at Cake Shop in New York City at 9:20pm, with bands such as Eternal Summers and Natural Child.

In addition to these releases and performances, Fucked Up has decided to repurpose 15 long lost extra tracks as a fictitious compilation album from a British town circa 1978-83. The town is the one in which their new album, the rock opera David Comes To Life, is set. All tracks are unreleased, and will not be on the new Fucked Up album (which is out on May 24th!)
