Ground Control Touring at Newport Folk Festival

This weekend, five Ground Control Touring artists infiltrate Fort Adams State Park and the town of Newport, RI for a 53rd incarnation of the historic Newport Folk Festival.

If you’re making it out to the festival, don’t forget to catch the following:

Saturday:

11:35 AM Robert Ellis – Quad Stage

12:35 PM Jonny Corndawg – Quad Stage

1:40 PM Deer Tick – Quad Stage

3:25 PM Dawes – Fort Stage

Sunday:

4:45 PM Conor Oberst – Fort Stage

In addition to playing the festival on Saturday, Deer Tick will play aftershows with varying special guests Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night at the Newport Blues Cafe. All proceeds will benefit the Newport Festivals Foundation and the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. The guests for each night are as follows:

Friday: Ravi Shavi, Joe Fletcher and the Wrong Reasons
Saturday: Jonny Corndawg, Sharon Van Etten, Matt Vasquez (of Delta Spirit)
Sunday: Robert Ellis, Jackson Browne with Jonathon Wilson and Friends

Finally, on Friday night Conor Oberst will play Jane Pickens Theater with Dawes and First Aid Kit to help kick off the festival weekend.
