Pete and the Pirates return in 2011 with their Brendan Lynch produced sophomore LP, the follow up to 2008’s critically acclaimed debut, ‘Little Death’. The first single from the album, ‘Come to the Bar’ was released on March 14th and ‘United’ is out on May 16th.The album, ‘One Thousand Pictures’ will be released on 23rd May.
With vintage synth lines bubbling under Motorik rhythms and a trademark soaring chorus, ‘Come to the Bar’ captures the sound of a band seamlessly moving up through the weight divisions – packing a greater punch, but losing none of the stream lined hooks and innate melodicism that defined their debut.
Since the release of ‘Little Death’, Pirates have been a busy bunch and haven’t stopped gigging. Collectively they have toured extensively across America (playing SXSW twice and CMJ) and embarked on a Risk-style takeover of Europe, beginning in France and slowly creeping through Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and most recently Romania.
Individually they’ve been recording solo albums (including lead singer Thomas Sanders’ critically acclaimed second Tap Tap album), winning darts trophies, making films, music videos and animations for MTV.
